| Started fishing Orcombe Point 12pm ish yesterday and had no luck. Moved over to Budleigh About 3ish and started catching about 4ish. In total I caught 3 dogs, one was much larger than the other 2 and it all seemed to get going as the sun started to go down. The guy next to me caught a few dogs and the group on the other side were catching but I was too far away to see what they were getting. I used a range of bait but the only thing I was catching on was some stinking 4 day old Tesco mackerel that had been festering in the boot of my car since I bought it! Had to stop fishing as soon as it was dark as I didnt take any torches with me. All in all I had a good day and the guy next to me said that there was lots of Pollock being caught off Budleigh last week. The beach was fairly busy after dark, probably about 10 anglers in all. The only slightly anoying thing is that I have lost my Greys GRX fly fishing reel somewhere - was mighty peed off as I spent all Friday night making Bass flies with the hope of some saltwater flyfishing at some point. I also bought a shrimp/eel/crayfish trap last week, caught tons of crabs off Exmouth (unfortunately none of them were peelers) from the shore. Does anybody know where I might find anything more "interesting" to trap saltwater or freshwater (and legal of course!!!). I did put it in a local river the other night but didnt get anything, probably because I left the catch zip open (duh)... |

| Re: Exmouth & Budleigh Report Well done Tom. I find it doesn't really matter what bait you put in front of the doggies at Budleigh.... They'll woof (No pun intended!) it all down. Myself and Pingu tried to fish Rodney bay on Saturday night.... Tide was a touch larger than expected in the end. Keep them reports coming mate. ![]() __________________ Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. | Re: Exmouth & Budleigh Report Hi there Bob, Webbie Si here from the ExmouthSAA. As you were asking, and are in Sidmouth, why not give the East beach there a bash? Been some nice Plaice from there in the last couple of weeks. I recon v. early morning is the key. Had 4 small Bass at Jacobs the other evening. Low tide, close in, on lug but on a calm evening those Bass flies have gotta be worth a bash. Regards, Si |
