Fishing methods Dell Quay, Chichester

Hi, I'm new to the area and finally decided to do some sea fishing. Dell Quay near chichester looks a good place (pub nearby!) but what tackle and what fish can I expect to be around.

Any tips would be Well received.
Cheers.

Cool Re: Fishing methods Dell Quay, Chichester

Hi Mate,

Cheers for the greeting. As it happens I went down there this morning and tried spinning, floated bait and freelining. Saw what might have been bass on the surface as well as smoothhounds (I think) following the current. But....didn't catch anything apart from a tan!!!

Hello .welcome to the forum.
Not sure about dell qauy, but youve got some good fishing spots not to far from you.
Pagham is a good spot with decent bream being caught at the moment and the chance of smoothhounds soon
All the selsey marks are only 10 mins away and also the harbours always fish well for shoal bass.
The fish you saw were probably shoal bass.

All the best and look forward to your posts

Re: Fishing methods Dell Quay, Chichester

HI buddy, i go to dell quay quite regulary, at the moment there are too many crabs there for anything other than bass, but they shoal up more toward fishbourne and toward copper point(access via marina). You can expect flatties there soon, now were getting the ease from the s.westerlies, If you know chidham at all you will be better off trying to get on there, go lightly packed as you would expect to trek a bit nut i have been assured its a better mark for flatties, dont expect the bass to get much over the 1.5lb mark in the harbour and keep to rolling weights and flapper rigs, if you go to dell quay fish about two hours before and after h.water, keep a spare rod going for pluggin if i were you just to ease the bordem. good luck
