hello, i fish for southampton sea angling club ,we have a night comp at selsea in late november . has anyone got any tips or ideas on the best side of selsea ,east or west beach and do you need to cast a long way out to get into the fish.cheers , woolston warrior

only fish selsea once and that was for smoothounds, fished west beach (i think)
so cant really help with the match but good luck all the same!

cheers mate, i was on holiday in southwest wales (cardigan) last august tried a spot of lure fishing on the mouth of the river teifi ,no joy fishwise . talking to some local lads they said live sandeel and just a small ballweight was the way to go.

cheers for the reply mate ,in theory the smoothies should be long gone,but i keep hearing stories of them being caught in and around soton water . Might try Als for some frozen peelers.

they are still here but all pups, think you will be wasting your time
recently i have found rag worm tipped with a thin stripe of macky belly to be deadly for pout and whiting, half a macky fille (long ways) and a squid head good for doggies, lug not taking as many fish as rag although a whole black lug and half a squid or something is good for coddling if they are about, not that i have had any
whole squid, half a macky or live pout good in close for bass, very close
