If's, When's, and But's of a poss Fri night Fishing Foray at Eastney!

First off is the "If" my mate is going to be willing to lend me his shelter.
Can't really see it being a problem, apart from me putting it up ofc!

Then the "When" can I get to pick it up....
His working 12 Hour shifts on a 4 day Days/Off/Nights/Off rotation can make getting hold of him tricky.

Last is the really tricky one............. "But" am I 'brave' enough for my first solo night trip!
Still got to get some sort of hands free light source too at current time.
Mobile/Torch just not cut it for main light, good enough when Rods have moved down and camp has stayed put, to check rod tips better.
Am not going to ask to borrow his Tilly lamp, as he was already worried when he had to fill on beach using an old rag as a filter.
All I suggested was a possible torch..

Although I know a couple/few spots where the street lighting could be used at worst.
Which could save what is already looking like a £30+ trip at least when I go to buy my bait!
(and that's not including anything I may want other than Rag!..... well maybe a Mustad Rod/Holdall bag* too!)

*An unfortunate must have for me, happy for Rods in 'bags' for Car..... but I don't drive personally.
99% of spots invovle a minimum 5-10 min walk, usual about 15 ish or so.
So if can get Rods, Tripod, anything else I can cram in, slung over the other shoulder to my backpack or can just put down/pick up as one unit (it has side handle too!) that's a huge win.
Is a real PIA when you have to stop, put down 2 rods and Tripod to light your ciggy, then have the hassle of getting it back in one hand again.
As for getting a coffee (as is available in some spots at some times) on the way........ 3 Arms would be great!

But with Rod bag, I could even have both hands free!
Which is a real *MUST HAVE* due to the ~1hr full kit carrying hike I face to get home, unless I aim to fish until about 6am..... when the buses start running again.
Slightly on the plus side though, all the kebab shops are still going to open on the way home, so if I can time it right to miss the drunks I can refuel part way home!

Whoops, bit of a babble....
"Vision of future catch report"
Went on first solo night trip, *BLANKED*

Pre-trip post more exciting!

*Update*

So far so..... dead in the water!
Have requested loan of shelter, but as such no reply.

Bit tricky when you using intermittent net chat due to mate being at work, and it was ~3am this morning.
Really could do with his (hopefully positive response) some time this evening....
Would give me chance to collect, and have a practice at setting it up in the garden before I go!

LOL, that does sound like a mission mate but im sure/hope your determination pays off.
Let me know when your next doing a night or day as im solo most of the time and your not far from me. its good to have a chat with someone else that shares the same sport rather then eating and drinking all ya stuff within 10 mins of being there lol.
All the best

Andy

Re: If's, When's, and But's of a poss Fri night Fishing Foray at Eastney!

The man from ....erm Del Monte not really appropriate...
So I'll just say "The man from 'Shelter Loans'.... he say YES!"

So far so good,
Purchase #1: Rod holdall (still in box as I type, but will be unpacked as soon as I stop!),
Purchase #2: HeadTorch (tested in McDonalds!),
Bonus Purchase #3 (They always happen when I visit tackle shop) a couple of rod tip light/bell combo's (thought might as well invest in something that may last as to save keep buying glow sticks (they also work in the day as well! Win Win! )

Now just need to go get the shelter, and ideally have a practice or 2 before I attempt it out on the beach solo.
Considering setting up 'camp spot', then heading back up the beach to the plentiful light area, pitching shelter and carrying back down again...

Weather looking reasonable, High Tide @ 21:45 so should be dark but not quite freezing o'clock.
Probably aim for around 1hr up, couple of hours down, and maybe (read probably) some bait leftover for Sat afternoon too!

If anyone out there fancies sharing their knowledge with an eager to learn returning n00b please get in contact.
Short notice I know, but it was for me too!
Or even just fancies a laugh at my expense...
Which I not mind, as long as you correct me in mean time.
The gear I have available is pure basic, but would of course be more than happy to contribute/donate for running costs of advanced equipment (Proper Lamp, Kettle etc).
