Where to go Soton - Bmouth

Hi,

Just joined today as I'm starting to get really into my fishing.

I wouldn't say I'm a novice but I don't take it really seriously, I just enjoy doing the odd day or night every month.

This summer I've just fished over on the hurst spit and haven't had much more than a couple of wrass and bream.

I was just after some advice as to where is best to go between Bournmouth and southampton day and night and what is the best bait/tides etc, as I'm just getting annoyed with the amount of weed over the spit

Thanks

Dave

Re: Where to go Soton - Bmouth

Best beaches between Bournemouth and Southampton are those on your doorstep mate! I'd absolutely love to live in Milford on sea and would probably fish everyday. As you've found out though your local beaches can be a bit temperamental with strong tides and the devil weed. If it's been stormy especially with southerly winds the weed is worse.

Generally the best and easiest fishing is found on smaller tides from high water, through the ebb and over low. You often get weed in at the start of the ebb which clears after a while and then the best fishing occurs. If it's been calm for a while you can fish on the flood along Milford/ Hordle on the flood on smaller tides too.

I fished the bank last week and it was stone dead but it should be fishing very well soon and throughout the Autumn.
