Re: dream spot Dont know, im not the most successfull fisherman ever.. Town quay was pretty good earlier in the year, but im a bit bored of it now. I only seem to get dogfish, and even though all the reports I have only seen one smouth hound ever. Lately havent even been getting much of a nibble.. So I have started going to highcliffe near lyndhurst and thats been pretty good. Its a nice beach anyway... much nicer than the docks Ive tried warsash twice but didnt even get a nibble! __________________ Species 2011: Bass, Dogfish, Sole

Re: dream spot Yeah fed up of it! I don't know what I'm doing wrong... Maybe don't use enough bait to attract the buggers! Haha I tired peeler the other night and there wasn't even a nibble. Which is annoying cos it's dear!! but then again I couldn't see anybody else around me doing any better!!! __________________ Species 2011: Bass, Dogfish, Sole

Re: dream spot My favourite mark was Newhaven West Harbour Arm. I loved it and it gave me some cracking sessions to remember. Also the first forum meet I arranged in 2004 was there where I met some sound lads. The French bought it and now it's closed Although you can get on by ladder apparently. Now, it would have to be Dungeness. It's remote but you can almost smell the history of the place when you get out of the car. I've had some red letter days in the past and it still holds great memories for me.

Re: dream spot well my best spot still is hurst hole ,end off spit ,spent many a night ,walking at 1 am ,after work, rain beating down and close to being blown of spit ,thats walking from milford on sea (car was safer 15 years ago) driving home with smashed windows is not my cup of tea ,after 2 mile walk in floatation suit ,setting up in hurricane ,looking back i was a risking it a bit on my own, ha ha ,well better than being at home ,with my ex and me wearing ear plugs !!! as people know on here tide rips though so bad ,8 oz would end up 100 yards away ,i always fish it 4 hours up( and when tide was at full flow ,cast whole squid 3 foot out (no lights on) once with my mate we had 13 bass ,up to 3 lb. also 9 lb cod from hole ,and your be all shocked to hear went back and was using mack flapper in hole with my uptider ,had 60 mono eaten ,yet to catch conger there , but have heard of conger coming out and cod to 20lb in the 60s and 70s ( cost me a few double malt in the gun pub) most old boys are tight lipped in the village, but tips have helped me out (and the empty wallet and morning after headache worth it. sometimes up to 20 dogfish can be caught on fish guts at night ( late sept - dec) and loads of bream and pout ,had couple of rays up to 6 lb(peeler) ,by casting with rolling lead to right of hole and letting go with the tide (before it start going down the solent ,and another good spot was by the old jetty( now behind the lighthouse) bream and pout on the ebb(spring tides). as for tackle 30 mono, shockleader not needed (my choice) ,pennel rigs ,large hooks ,and i use 3 wire booms for pout and bream ,and when times have been hard, ive gone down to very small hooks with mack ,squid strips, as for bait mack, rag, squid, black lug, crab with a few cocktails mixed in have been my tipple !!! Left of lighthouse 400 yards down (bird watching hut) had small plaice to 2 lb and brill, and close to the back of the castle you will see chunks of red bricks (some old building)this fishes well ,loads of snags (weak link lead solves problem) had a few garfish on float at back of castle and a good spot for bass (plugging and fly) has its day as for the main spit ,had some good fish ,over the years ( 6 codling best ) when the wind was in my face ,last time i went down some bloke had a good size plaice ,and bass and the odd garfish coming from rocks behind carpark anyway hope this gives a few people a bit more info, and like give the small trawlers crew a hand shake for going past me many times laughing, finger signals ,hope to see some fishing reports soon kev
