Re: free ragworm bournemouth

deffo ragworm mate.. bunched on the hook with lots of beads.. any squid or fish baits will just attract the crabs ! use small ball weights if you can and let the bait move about in the tide .. should be lots of schoolies about after dark too to rag baits ..
good luck wherever you end up !

Re: free ragworm bournemouth

Hi mate,

I have started salting my leftover bait. Missus loves it, sweet little buckets of dried up worms in the airing cupboard. No, it works and saves the waste and you have a back up if you don,t get fresh bait . Seems to swell up to a normal size bait once in the water. Looks a bit like licorice bu I would be too sure on the taste!!
Good fishing mate.

Good fishing mate.
I have enough problems sneaking fresh bait into the fridge. I can just imagine her reaction if I started putting it in the airing cupboard :-) You must have a very understanding missus.

Our lass nearly filed for divorce when she found half a pint of maggots tucked away in the salad draw yesterday,
she probably wouldnt have been bothered except last time, they got out and Ihad to dismantle the fridge !

Re: free ragworm bournemouth

you can salt most things really -like mumifying stuff. Just keep it in the salt for weeks and then you do not even have to freeze them. Works okay, but the fresh ones are better. But salting them stops any wastage.
