Adur Mullet

Just walked the Adur with the Dog tonight, everywhere you look Mullet are surfacing and supping at the water surface, perfect evening for bringing on with bread i would of thought, noticed some sizable black flying ants falling on the water and wondered if an imitiation would work on the flyrod.

Probably! LOL, I did notice there was a lot of fly life about, but mainly alot of flying ants falling out of the sky and i wondered if the free offerings had encouraged them to concentrate on one food source like resident rainbow trout, also there was a pretty orange type fly in abundance, FLYING FOX.... Was your mate fishing and baiting at the same time, was it float or bottom, wondered this as there was a big tide and if he was bottom fishing i think their heads were looking up for food.
Really keen to get the kayak out and fish stationary at anchor with a fly rod and gently let this wander down to them with a indicator attached so i can clearly see takes...they are little buggers when their not playing the game!

Re: Adur Mullet

Not sure what method he was using to be honest but he normally fishes a bubble float and adjusts the depth till he finds one to suit.....he has been fishing and prebaiting the same spot for a couple of weeks on an off and over the bigger tides he failed to see many at all, couple of weeks ago he was getting plenty of takes and got some on the bank....! he has seen loads the last couple of days but not got em to feed. Ive also heard theres plenty of thin lips up there at the moment...even more then the thick thick lip....gonna have to give it ago again myself soon.....unsure where to try yet though.

Heard a bloke had two 3lb'rs out yesterday up there somewhere!

Re: Adur Mullet

between the toll bridge and railway bridge i favour,,, loads showing there yesterday and another good spot if you have transport is cross the flyover by the cement works, seem to congregate on a bend up there, what i have noticed on an incoming tide they seem to favour hugging the right of the river heading north very close to the bank presuming this is out the way of the tidal flow as the other side is too fast?
I may well pop up there tomozevening aftre work...but will have the pest with me (dog who can,t keep out of water!) gotta go now got another callout!
give us a shout if you go i,ll introduce myself!
