What Where & How this Winter

I am a complete novice at sea fishing so am after some straight forward advice on what I might be able to catch between now and spring.
I am at Exmouth and don't want to go far afield so any locals or folks with ideas on good spots to fish from the shore at Exmouth and what's best to use bait wise would be well appreciated.
I also have a kayak so good advice for fishing from kayak near here also welcome.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
Cheers Jason
