Re: Small Wrass as bait? I think it may be a reference to the current marmite advertising campaign "You either love it or hate it". On one day the fish will go nuts for a particular bait, climb up your line & nibble the tip ring, on another day the same bait will not get a touch" There are cheaper baits than marmite, it's nearly a fiver for a large jar & my son goes through it in no time. ![]() __________________ Spahill <:--- --- --- --- It was this big --- --- --- ---:>

Re: Small Wrass as bait? Bass are more omnivorous than we think .... they'll eat anything depending on available foodtuffs .... they're boogers for bread or sausage or road-kill giblets (if you have the stomach for that!). Fresh mackies and pout are probably favourites, but chunked squid is also a telling method. If bass are hungry they'll eat any smallish fish including wrasse ... try the butterfish which you find in rock-pools and under stones around my area (Langstone).

Re: Small Wrass as bait? I think you were bein led on. Bass ae a predatory fish. The only way they can tell if they like it is to bite it. tj

Re: Small Wrass as bait? I remember a few years ago when there was an article in the Sea Angler claiming that using WD40 improved your catch rate. I gave it a try and strangely enough my catch rate didnt improve. Since that time I have never bought the Sea Angler. __________________ Check my blog for a daily fishing forecast from Weymouth, Portland, Chesil Beach & Kimmeridge Bay. www.fishingtails.co.uk
