Re: Loon lagoon , 1st jan , town quay !!!!

Afternoon anglers ,
well i arrived at town quay at 9 am with a full clear head and the weather was absolutely spot on , sun shining , very little wind , fantastic !!!!!!

so up with the gear , rod no 1 , end gear pulley pennel rig , rod no 2,
2 hook paternoster rig ,so i fully loaded a pulley pennel with lug and party squid on size 4/0 hooks and walloped it out hoping for the biggun lol , paternoster rig with rag and party squid , 1st cast on the pennel rig and up came this greedy monster on 4/0 hook !!!!!!!!!

little whiting lol , then bite after bite after bite !!!! which was great fun but just couldnt hook them , i suppose if i would have change rigs to a scratching rig then probally would have caught more , but i was holding out for the biggun !!!!!!, then around 1pm tide on the run out hard , all went quiet ,then 1 more nod and up came this little dragonnet ,

caught on rag ,then the wife and kids turned up complete with hot bacon sarnies , luverly !!! nothing else then the bites dissapeared and the wind came in , spots of rain , that was my cue lol , home to a nice lamb roast !!!!,
departed 3.30 pm a very pleasent day nice and quiet with everyone in bed with sore heads !!!!

lee.

Re: Loon lagoon , 1st jan , town quay !!!!

I can confirm, definitely a mark that attracts a few nutters. My lad won't come fishing any more since he witnessed one guy getting driven away by the police - having just tried to run over one of the security guys!

That said, if you don't mind catching herds of tiddlers in between the odd good fish, or just want a place to try different tactics it's a cracking mark. I've travelled hours to fish so called good marks only to blank or catch a single cod or whiting, yet one hour down the road and I can get to this mark, and always seem to catch something that I wasn't expecting. Be a shame if the rumours come true that it's being sold for flats!
