Talking Anyone fished Milford/Hurst?

If any of you chaps have either fished along here recently, or have heard anything, please let me know.
Plan to fish thereabouts tomorrow. On paper, conditions look acceptable for picking up a few fish around the turn of the tide.

Sudge.

Re: Anyone fished Milford/Hurst?

Should have a good chance of some whiting there. Bass in tight, maybe even a cod at range!!!

Does Hurst fish better on the smaller tides?

I think it may be the ONLY time to fish it from the end! The tide rip there is incredible.....With out weed and the tides as they are, you should get away with a 6oz grippy!! I`m no expert on the mark, but i would say less tide the better for the fish there!

Re: Anyone fished Milford/Hurst?

not for a while, weed is the main problem in summer , by winter it should be gone but the spring flood tide is about the worst on the bank.
up at the castle unless spinning fish only the flood if left of castle as the tide pull is unbelieveable .

Re: Anyone fished Milford/Hurst?

Er, yeah! It can race through a bit!
I tend to time my sessions to coincide with ebbing neaps, finding that, season depending, one can catch fish around the highwater stand, and the first hour or so of the ebb. It then tends to go quiet, until absolute low water, when one can catch Bass very close in, on virtually any sizeable bait.
The best time, for my money anyway, is as the tide is turning and coming back in again. That hour or so can be very productive....Dogfish,Whiting, etc., and you tend to say to yourself, 'at last'. Because, to be honest, this venue quite often appears barren. At those times, being able to chuck a bit pays off. So again, it's the right bait, in the right place, at the right time.
As for tomorrow night, well..... I don't expect too much, but I've not fished it for a year and I'd like to know if it's showing any form? Anyone??

Sudge.
