Cool Fishing at Rhue Scotland

Well i went on my fishing trip to Rhue, near to Ullapool, NW Scotland.
High tide was at 11:50 with the sea state being calm.
Sky and BBC said the weather was going to be overcast with the occasional . Erm?.... where was they when they predicted this?
Fantastic weather with fantastic views. I am now red as a lobster and thats with suncream.

Fishing wise i had a slow start. Nothing biting up until about 30 mins before high tide. First fish was a Coalfish. Only small but nice to get something. bite were steady after that at roughly about 20 minute intervals.
In total i had a good day, catching 17 fish in all (9 x coalfish, 8 x pollock).
Only two of these fish were 'keepers' and are presently sitting in my fridge for the BBQ tomorrow.

All in all a fantastic day. Well worth going to this place if you are in the area (i know its well north but you never know). Thanks to Paul for the tip on where to go . I shall have to ask your advice more often.

Now i am off to get those pints i so richly deserve and worked for today.

Re: Fishing at Rhue, Scotland

Ben i was spinning for the fish with small 20 to 40g lures (mackerel look a likes). The beachcaster kept getting snagged so i didn't bother in the end as i was losing more leads/weights then anything.

Steve the biggest fish was a nice 3lb pollock. Although thats not big it was still fun to catch and put up a great fight.

Re: Fishing at Rhue, Scotland

Ben...spiining for fish on the west coast i generally find is easier then the east coast. pollock and coalfish are really good for spinning and i would recommend anyone to give it a go.
