Stokes Bay report Sat.

Fished up Gillkicker end of Stokes last night.
Biggish tide, though not exactly racing through. H.W at around 11 pm .
Generally clear skies, though a little cloud here and there. Clear water. Mirror finish. A headlight was not required, not least because of the pyrotechnics coming from the golf course.
Anyway, me and the missus,(she's learning), fished one rod apeice. On the business end two hook flappers, eighteen inch snoods off stand off blood loops i.e., minimal ironmongery. #2 hooks, with blow, freshout blacks, and a few yellowtails. A few White Ragworm for variety/desperation in the clear water. All fished at ranges of 15 to say 100 yds.
The first bites came an hour b4 high water, 'in' Pout, followed by pin Whiting' all caught fishing as per usual, slightly uptide.
The guy next to me had a similar night, taking his fish on Mackerel.
Come 1.30 am , most had given up, and gone home, though as I understand it, numbers had been up due to a match in progress. Be interested to know the result.
Things finished on a better note for us, when a Bass of 2 1/2 lb picked up my bait, snagged me , and then fell for the old slack line trick. Had I not landed it, then it would have gone at least 5lb, and may even have been a Cod...
But that's fishing!
The missus blanked, but can already cast further than my mates...

Sudge

Re: Stokes Bay report Sat.

Yep! though teaching the missus probably reduced fishing time!
If it's any consolation to Gosport regulars, the bloke in front of the sailing club snactched a 'micro slug'.
So it's 'Goodbye!' Cod, and 'Hello!' Rockling!
Normal service will be resumed shortly...LOL!
