Re: OH NO poole again lol !!!!

Hi all,
well the third session at poole quay ,
didnt go to plan arrived at 5.30 pm, 3 of us fishing ,
fish were biting all night we caught a mixed bag including ,
bass , pout , snottys ,blennys , biggest being a bass of about 1lb 1/2 ,
the tide wasnt very fast at all , so easily fishable ,but the tide went out at about 10pm and never came up again ,alough it only drops about 5 ft, that makes all the difference !!!!!,
again tried very hard to bag a big bass it just wasnt to be , whole mackeral fillet , whole squid , livebaiting pout ,big bunches of clam ,sandeel ,and not even a sniff lol , all fish fell to ragworm only !!!!,
i just cant get my head around the tidal run of poole quay , never fished anywhere like it !!!!!
well an enjoyable night again on my own for the latter part as the other 2 were doing big zzzzzzzzzz;s in the minibus lightweights lol ,
so once again my quest for the big bass has failed
depart ,5.30 for home strangely not dissapointed but already looking forward to the next session and the chase !!!!!!!!!
and with time running out quickly next week MAGAZINE LANE ,

cheers lee.

Re: OH NO poole again lol !!!!

Well we have special tide machines to confuse the Grockles!!!

If you look at the tide times on the quay use the ones for the Poole bridge listed I think on the Poole coastguards web site.

The tidal race through the quay is strange because it is a small channel that fills holes bay from the main harbour which in turn fills from the english channel through the narrow opening at the haven ( by the chain ferry), which in turn has a false tide from the solent emptying.

Tides times are black magic to predict on the quay, you first need to sacrifice one tourist.........

At least jonah was not with you and you did not blank

Re: OH NO poole again lol !!!!

He must have been from the school we have in town to train special idiots to send to each village,

Us "local" boys also have special training in how to annoy visitors, my special skill was directing lost grockles by using local names for landmarks and the old names of the pubs( poole pubs seem to change name every 5 years).

eg. " you drive down this road to were the New Inn used to be, turn left until you get to Monkey's Jump, then follow the old Upton bypass til you get to where Ladies Walking field was" and under the breathe you say "now you are totally lost , just smile and say thanks""

The more modern use of colurful anglo saxon I think detracts from the pure art of village idiocy we have been practicing for years.
