Hengistbury Head, Saturday 14th

I'm off for a day session on Saturday to Hengistbury Head, haven't fished it before but have read a couple of reviews of it, most seem to centre around how to fish the long groin, with loads of suggestions to float fish over the kelp beds and broken ground.

Has anyone fished it recently? If so how did it go?

Cheers, Tony

Re: Hengistbury Head, Saturday 14th

a mate at work regularly fishes there, he said he always uses spark plugs as weights as it will eat tackle, the tip of the groyne is the place to fish, watch out if you plan on staying late as they lock the car park.

Cannot ask any more as he is off in Australia right now but he reckons it is a top fishing spot if you do not mind a long walk from the car park.

Good luck

Thumbs up Re: Hengistbury Head, Saturday 14th

Did'nt have too many problems with snags when I fished there last year. There's a land train from the carpark that saves a long walk with your gear. Try a float rig with crab or ragworm as there's some monster Wrasse on the Groyne. Good luck Tony

Re: Hengistbury Head, Saturday 14th

Hi Tony

I've fished it half a dozen times or so, but not for about two years so can't say how it's fishing.

I am booked on a boat on Saturday but the weather is looking somewhat precarious to say the least so I'd say it's 50/50 at the moment. If the boat is cancelled, Imran (mule) and I are planning a shore session so we may join you.
