Flatfish will become famous soon enough
Hamble Jetty 09/10/06

Hi All, what can I say, I received a phone call from one of my team members L.time to ask me what I am up to later as he was fishing down kemps but no luck, so I thought it was my turn to take My mate Gary somewhere new fishing in Hamble and because I had a bug to catch a few as my rods have not been touched all weekend
So we parked up and traveled in style

After about a 5 min walk through the boat yard we found that we couldn’t fish our 1st spot due to the tide being right out and we couldn’t walk down to close due to the high tides flooding all the fields within the last few days.

So I felt a bit down coz I heard some really good reports from this place and wanted myself and Gary to catch a few fish.

so back to plan B which we didnt have so we stood in the feild for about 5 mins thinking where to go next , but on the way back we was lucky to bump into the right person to let us fish of one of the main platforms.

So a big SMILE on my face , as I always wanted to this spot we was in some deep water about 40ft or so.

We from 9.00pm till 1am with high tide being about 12.00

Things was looking good as within 5 mins of casting I nearly lost my rod with a thumping bite but sadly miissed the fish but a great start...

but 2 nd cast I was into A Small bass about 1/2 pound and as the night went on I ended up catching 7 bass
biggest about 2lb

plus a 3lb 14oz eel which I weighed with Gary , but sadly no photo AS it slipped in the water, but what a nice fish which to be fair I thought was a very big bass at first as it put a nice bend in my rod and a great fight.
I also tried a bit of spinning as there was a lot of fish jumping but no luck.
I will catch a fish soon from the Sea spinning!!!!!!!
Gary ended up with a nice 3lb Eel and a 1/2 lb bass but then Gary sat it out for a bigger bass using whole mack filt and peeler crab but the tide was really strong at about 11.30 - 12.30 but I think Gary had a couple of runs .

Myself most of fish caught on a one up , one down rig with most fish failing to the bottom hook , best baits for me Rag worm , but used crab , squid , mack tiped and whole but no joy.

I Think I will be returning here soon so I can target some of the bigger fish

but what a great night fishing with all fish return .

Justin

Hi all,

Well done, I agree with Pingu, you are quite welcome to the Eels, they are nothing but trouble although I have a friend who loves them , he is welcome.

Cheers

Drew
