Re: going out wed night 11th

well got down to branscombe about 7 this evening through pretty thick fog
good surf but where had this big easterly wind come from
and wayout to sea a thunderstorm was entertaining us as well

anyway walked left till infront of first chalet
first bait out a huge fillet of makkie on a 4/0 ultimate bass hook sent out 30 feet or so into this good surf
started baiting next rod and mate shouts you got a bite
wind in small doggie that swallowed whole bait and hook
unhooked and sent out other rod 2 hook flapper with lug and lug and makkie
bang straight onto another doggie
well it worked out 6 casts and 6 doggies, last 3 a good size and scrapped well in the surf, all on fish bait
then nothing for an hour as switched to squid and crab
then last cast caught a rockling about the size of a sandeel , perfectly hooked on a 2/0 baited with lug, greedy sod
then heavens opened with thunder and lightening as well so made a hasty retreat, and drove home slowly through massive storm

good evening , not bad for 3 hours though
but if this wind and weather stays may change venue tommorrow night

dave

Re: going out wed night 11th

Hello mate. Sorry I didn't get hold of you last night. All hell broke loose at home and to top it all off my Bro-in-law "borrowed" my rods last night, and managed to break the tip ring off my sandstorm.

He's going to take it to Rob today, so we should be on for tonight if you're still up for it. High at 10:20pm. Dry with a good westerly.

Ladram? Jacobs?

Rich.

Re: going out wed night 11th

ok after a bit of delay. wives to blame again got to sidmouth and set up for arround 8.30
conditions could not have been any more different to last night, now flat calm , clear skies , no wind , so hoped game on for the ray
met si from club he had already had 2 doggies
guess what first cast doggie number 1
rich arrives about 9.20ish and hes straight into dogs,
well we are all pulling in dogs, lost count of mine and richs after 6 each , then si breaks the run with the thinest whiting, but first for the winter
then si has a nice tub gurnard(his first from the shore )
rich then gets a whiting so its now 2 species to rich, 3 to si and still 1 too me
si left just before 11 as tide turned and now big moon(more like daytime now)
and i get 1 more bite a nice eel of about 1 1/2 lb, which managed to get off before ruined rig as well

nice social eve but no sign of mr ray again, thats about 2 weeks now without , really hope havnt moved on

dave

oh and rich met the best beach zombie i've ever seen, lucky s*d
