Eastney (I think) Friday night

Fished friday night 2100 - 0300, I think it was Eastney that we fished at, we drove along from Southsea Pier about 1 mile, parked up and made the short hop across the shingle.

Quite blowy to start with, but the weather settled nicely into a lovely evening, big moon, clearish sky and even the wind gave up after a couple of hours.

Fished a big bait close in (30 yds) and a two hook flapper at varying distances from 30 - 110 yds, baits used were whole squid, rag and lug tipped with squid.

I thought I was in for a blank as my mate caught 3 hounds before i'd even managed a bite (No size 3lb down to 1lb). I then managed an eel (oh joy) which I decided to keep for the next pike session - server it right for knackering my rig!

Just after high tide (first hour down) the fishing really picked up, all four rods started twitching almost at once, my mate hit into what looked like a decent fish, only to suddenly feel it all go slack (checked his snood and his knot had slipped, Tut Tut!) I then had a bite and bought in a schoolie about 1lb and then another slightly bigger but still not a keeper.

Then as quick as the bites had started it all went dead, so we used the rest of the bait up and had a drive home.

Not the busiest evening, but was good fun, no cod this time, but then hey, got something to target next time.

Thanks to Maghouse and Gully for the local info
