Eastney lastnight

Had a sess down Eastney lastnight.
The wind was pretty strong from the west which meant it was coming along the beach, not ideal but the sea was well chopped up and i really thought i was in with the chance of a coddling.
After 10 mins of flying my beach buddy i cast out both rods with very large lug baits.
Well not much happened really,i fished really hard for three and a half hours alll the way to the top of the tide at 2300.
Alll i had to show for the death of nearly 100 lug was an udersize Bass and two fat Pouting
Sod it i thought ,i m going to drop them boith short for Bass, sod the cod
I brought one in ,changed rigs and put a large worm and squid bait just back of the waves.
10 minutes later i was just finishing bring in the other rod when "BANG"
the close in rod bends over and over and over, the tripod collapses and the rod hits the deck.
That wouldnt have been to bad but the rod was quickly being dragged into the white water and off to France.
I finally jumped to life and throwing my other rod down ran down the beach and threw myself at my fast dissapearing rod.
When i lifted it up and felt the fish i initially though it could be that magic double figure bass.
But after a short srap made harder by my reel handle being bent round and the reel full of grit i landed a very chunky bass of 3.5LB.
I couldnt believe that a Bass of that size came very close to taking my rod
If i d been talking to Rob 20yrds away i would have lost it for sure.
I was now very wet but stayed another hour fishing both rods in close ,i had another 3 bass but all undersize.
I think i ll carry with Bass fishing for the next month,i reckon targetting cod off the Hampshire beaches is just a waste of time and effort especially when theres so many Bass about, and i know which one i d rather catch
Not a great nights fishing but quite excitting at the end.
Cheers

Re: Eastney lastnight

sounds like that 3 1/2 pounder wanted to fight! I hope some of his mates are out on Saturday as we are going to try Poole Quay. I would love to hook into something like that.

All that Rag drowning was worth it in the end for that one run.
