2lb fish 30lb weed

well weather had been threatening all day but i was determined to go out and try for mr ray again (in the end the rain just about held off)

so grabbing few packets frozen sandeel and a box of squid and a few frozen crabs(as if possible would chance for a bass later over the rocks) shot off to sidmouth
got there at 7 tide just 1 hour back into the flood
cracking surf and nice dirty water game on i thought




cast out a sandeel section on a size 3/0 (well chuffed as nailed a cast on 525 with brakes 1/2 off, boy did it go )and started to bait other rod.
When bang down went first, wound down and felt a nice heavy thump then went slack and then this beauty broke the surface and kited in along the surf, only 2lb but this was looking good

sent a txt to rich to get his butt over here but unfortunately his pass didnt appear (maybe as well after what happened next)

reabaited and sent out, another good cast as well, but then worst fears for this venue started as the weed built as the tide came in, each cast was bringing in pounds of the stuff, even up too hurstcastle standards
so eventually gave up at 9.30 as rods being pulled off stand
only other fish of the session was this 10oz pout


didnt know it was there under 5lb weed

a nice short session and finished off at local where rich's fave barmaid Terri was working(sorry mate got a photo of her for you, on another baggy fans knee )



gonna try and get her to help in virtual bar on her nights off mate hehe

...occasionally we get rays up here..but they're not a targetable species really. I got a butterfly a few years back off my local beach, a thornie around 3lb ish - but a guy fishing a match for whiting in November last year got a thornie just under 10lbs - so they are there I suppose..
