| Double first @ Branscombe 15/6/6 well what a night last night was for me although not biggest footy fan I support england and managed to watched game in piece as kids not interested,happy with result said quick hi too missus as she got in from work then shot off to branscombe to meet my mate dave, got there about 7.45 high tide 9.30 sent out some lovely rag and crab baits hoping for a plaice( as saw 1 from here last week) but all i did was feed the ever hungry spider crabs quick session with feathers and spinner brought in 1 makkie(saw no one else catching so stopped) so sent out the big crab baits for the smoothies mate dave was in within 10 mins with a hound about 5lb again then we were both into good old doggies  , mate also hooked up to a bullhusshis first from the shore, then after a bit it was my turn and i got a huss, not huge but 1.5 points(well after get photo off mates camera that is)then quiet for a bit apart from good old doggies. Then noticed slack line on left rod so picked it up and wound in fast, yep theres a weight then bang off it went, well i've never had a sea fish pull this hard and have its own way with direction, but with heart in mouth(i knew what fish i wanted it to be  )i kept going,to land a nice stary smoothound about 4lb ,forgot to weigh in excitement(whole beach must have heard my shout of OOOOH YESSSSSS!!!!), mate took photos and it was released, so a first for me and 1.5 points, now i know why they are so reveared they are awsome fish then while reloading rig noticed other rod go, looked like a doggie but then started fighting and i thought wow not 2 in 1 go, but no this time a nice bass came to the beach just over min size @45cm and weighing just under the 2lb ,another first as never had a takeable before and again 1.5 points.rest of evening was doggie heaven all fish apart from makkie taken on crab or crab/rag baits packed up 2.15am knackered but well happy, 5 species, 4.5points and 2 firsts great night with mate,a few beers and fish for the barbie tonight (will add photos later when mate emails them) i will be back to branscombe very soon  dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives     |
