princess pier this morning

well got down the pier around 9am with the intention of hooking out a few mackeral for tea everyone else on the pier had caught fish so things were looking promising i setup on a float as did my dad and we sat and waited for our first bites of the day!

whilst waiting i noticed a splash on the surface to my left then the water just boiled with mackeral everywhere!

well i tried everything from 22ft up to 3ft deep! and not one mackeral would take my bait,

upon talking to other anglers i think they all had the same problem the mackeral seemed intent on whatever they were chasing and wouldnt touch any imitations you threw at em!

however i did managed to catch another species to add to the list and top up our point tally!!

a tiny little bait shreading black bream!! then the heavens opened and down poured the rain so infear of being struck by lightning we packed up and came home.

hopefully going bassing this afternoon and maybe another 1.5points can be found there!

cheers dave back home now fished shaldon side of the river near the small lighthouse..

method was 1/2 ounce ball lead 3-6ft trace and a 4-6inch eddystone sandeel

took us a while to find fish but in the end i caught 4 my dad had 5! nothing big enough for dinner (although most were boardering the limit) but still great sport on light gear some some bigger fish come out on guy caught one 60 yards up river from us that i would say must be 5lbs+

so had a great couple of hours hopefully will be going back to try some other spots in the river this evening!
