| tough weekend match well what a silly weekend it was an open(fish anywhere) comp from fri 9pm till sun 6 pm so when going to book in fri eve had call work cancelled for weekend(good and bad news) also found a full scale easterly blowing . but decided to chance branscombe again as had fished well on wedwell what a difference a eastely made fished from 9pm - 2am = 0 fish (but did get a free hot dog off couple having BBQ on beach ) woke saturday to find wind had gone full southerly but wife says" ooh you are off today then?? !!!. lets go to north coast and meet dad "(who was down on hols) "you can bring a rod "so with plans off bass /flatties etc from arround westward Ho! we headed off but what she really meant = meet father in law and let your bait cook in boot of car all day so sat eve had no worm bait now but as wind had dropped headed to branscombe (11pm)again armed crab/squid /sandeeland clam, went through till 1.30 am and was about to give up when another body appeared (keith from club) who had been fishing right hand end beach, quick chat and he threw bait right out beside me(similar bait /distance and rig ) and immediately his ratchet is going, to get a nice 5lb smoothy in bag![]() rejuvinated we decided to fish on and I managed at last a mkkie at 2am!!!! packed up 3.30am and headed to budliegh where picked up a fewmore makke (anda seagull )then dived to docks where weed was making it unfishable, so headed home at 6.30am for some much needed kip(just couldnt make another hour till highh!!!!) family stuff in pm stopped fishing again but tried another 1/2 hour at docks before weigh in, = nowt again as weed/tide race horrendous at weigh in martin (taff) won with several species and a nice 5 1/2 bass(which wangled from branscombe sat morn 3 am )I amazingly was 4th with 2 good makkie ,everyone agreed the sudden easterly had made it a tough weekend, people had travelled from branscombe to plymouth ,mountbatten breaKwater to get species(had pout/dogs/wrasse and makkie at breakwater) so was well please with 4th but very surprised (with just 2 makkie?!!!)as well(12 signed in) but its by specimin size so thanks another night where guy stood right beside me got a smoothie(getting to same state as greenhearts gudgeon) must want one too much!!!!!!!! few pints tonight now bed seriosly becons dave __________________ www.exmouthsaa.co.uk 24 beers in a case and 24 hours in a day simples You won't know unless you go :D...and if you do go!! please let us know :D as thats how the forum thrives |
