brilient news!!

i went fishing today at the local beach using peeler, rag and hermit crab
started fishing arounf half 11 without any bites untill about 1 when i had a masive bite which pulled my rod half way down the beach,
i finaly caught up with my rod and started to paly the fish, i wasnt sure what i had hooked into but it was big, as it got closer into the shore it really started puting up a fight and then i saw this big dowsel fin apear in the water, i couldnt beleave it, i had caught a smoothound
landed it, unhooked, took pics and then put back, another person fishing said he thought it was about 7lb
cast back out with a big grin on my face and a fresh bit of hermit crab and withing acouple of mins another big bite, chased the rod down the beach again
this time the fish started putting up an even better fight and i managed to half beach it, i lent over and grabed its tail when all of a sudden it headbutted my head and a big wave appeared washing me nearly off my feet making me drop the fish back into the water only for the line to snap and the fish swim off happily, leaving me with a rather saw nose
the same guy said that the 2nd smoothound looked about 8lb
both were caught on hermit crab at high tide casted out medium distance
gonna go back again tomorrow with more hermit crab
1 other was caught between about 5 other anglers which was smaller than both of mine (which made me very happy cause they all looked like theyy knew what they were doing) and then to my surprise even more 1 of them came over and asked for my advice on what to do!!! this proved to be a v big surprise and almost as good as catching the fish
pics on the forum soon

Re: brilient news!!

Well done mate!!

i love fishing for hounds off the beach but it does help if you set your drag up so you dont end up breaking your rod or somthing! my mate's rod got taken in off the pier the other day but he managed to cast his other rod and hook the real!! he even got the eight pound hound on the end to!! lucky git!! couldnt help but laugh myself seeing his tip tornado and his mag elite take the dive!! lol

oh well good luck for tomorrow if you go! wanted another bash myself but the tides are wrong for me and the water has cleared to quick down ere!
