Re: went fishing today at dawlish

Why is it mackerel like feathers so much? Not something I've ever tried, how do you fish them just drift them or what? That said when I was in Ireland with a friend about 15 years ago he caught a mackie with a daisy on his hook! (I got a 2.5 lb plaice using a limpet on a 5 foot kids spinning rod :) )

Re: went fishing today at dawlish

here in the bay greg we drop them down too the bottom wind them up 3 or 4 turns and then just lift and drop the rod until we feel a fish....if you dont get anything lift them another 3 or 4 turns and repeat.
i dont use feathers myself i only know that because i used to work on a macky trip boat here lol

Re: went fishing today at dawlish

Devondave,

I'm afraid I have no idea about the shore fishing around dawlish.

I do know you are allowed to fish off the bridge at Teignmouth and some big bass have been caught off it very recently....you do need a drop net though it is essential.
A fairly high tide say over 3 mtrs fished on the flood, I've caught several fish underneath it from the boat.

Good luck and give us a wave if we steam through and snag your line!

Regards, Jules
