Re: went fishing today at dawlish

always try to go for the Mackeral on lighter gear, or it just ruins the sport

its nice there for the kids as well i take mine as you come into dawlish there is a garage on the left hand side about 5o yds on the left is a layby pull in there and take the little lane on the left down to the beach its not as busy as the main dawlish beaches

Re: went fishing today at dawlish

Hi guys,
I'm still amazed at people that fish for mackeral with loads of feathers, take a carp rod and fixed spool reel and they give the fight of your life with a single lure..
If only they would learn to swim straight instead of round in cicles they would challenge the best game fish in the world. Apparently off orestone rock out of Torquay you can catch them to 3 1/2 lbs!!!
I'll be getting some of that this summer!
Then of course you always have the chance with a single lure that a big ol bass will come along, 60 odd did for me last year. Haven't caught a single one yet this year but the guys I take out are doing well.

If only mackeral grew to 30 lbs!!!
Cheers guys
Jules

Re: went fishing today at dawlish

i seen loads of people last time i went using feathers and keepin every fish they caught

they ended up with a bucket ful and 3 bags and they were boastin about it askin us how many we hav caught

to prove point i chucked out a set of feathers and had 5 at once 1st cast and then carried on spinning probs catchin the same amount as them anyway with 1 lure

Re: went fishing today at dawlish

yea get alot of that down hopes nose steve.
they catch big black sackfuls get halfway up the hill realise they are too heavy to carry anymore and dump them in the bushes it really annoys me but thats another story.
jules i think i saw u mention the ore stone it is good out there but i havent seen macky that big for a few years now still plenty of bass and stuff around the ore stone flat rock thatchers rock and the elusive tucker rock.
and as for dawlish i have passed that recently on the train a few times and it looks good if i get off the train at dawlish warren where about do i go fishing?. i am coming up from torquay and will probably stop at teignmouth and pick up live eels b4 i go onto dawlish i just thought it would be a different day out for me
