well got too the beach earlier than planned at 6.30 too find darren(plod) and his mate already there (decided too get us fit by marchinng 1/2 way along beach away from carsas well) low tide was at 7
whilst setting up was good too see darren pull in a good whiting and had had a pout, this looked promising
set up 2 rods and waited, phill and his mate turned up just before 7 then baggie rich turned up for the social 10 mins before heading to exeter and the pubs

well darren was on form and pulled in another pout and then a good size doggy

myself and phill just waited
then i got a small pout(yessssss at least not blanked!!! )
then phill scored just as darren stood by phills rod(think darrens a good luck charm)
I then managed a double shot, and realised one fish was not pout or whiting, and on further discussion with Phill and his mate realise i have scored 1 1/2 more points as have a small Sea trout

sorry naff phota as had too take on phone as main camera batteries died
darren and mate then headed awayabout 10 and the fishing died right off so we packed up just before 11 and made a pint on way home
best bait on the night was squid for a change
now have loads of rag in fridge thanks too darren as well
a great night meeting all the others again, pitty the fishing was slow, buut went home happy

It doesnt look like a sea trout to me though, totally different shape to all the ones i have caught. it looks more like a whiting crossed with a pollock

Think i'd agree with luke on the fish ID, don't think its a sea trout. At least you caught though. Must get down to exmouth & try these pies

ok all just googled the sea trout and agree its not,
but its nothing like i've ever caught before so guess a hybrid thing like luke says
oh well next time

Mate its still a lovely fish and far better than Ive been catching

i.e To much work and no fishing

do i get the points for calling it pike bait , as it was so deep hooked its now in the freezer for that very purpose hehe
