| "Moonshine" 28 November 28 November Boat Trip Bill, Bob, Jim my son in law and I went out on the ‘Moonshine’ from Southsea Marina yesterday. The skipper, Peter Churchill, took us straight out to a guarantied cod mark where we spent most of the day. Unfortunately nobody told the cod to be there. A vhf call around a lot of other boats, later in the day, told us that not a single cod had been caught. On arriving at the mark, five minutes brought up the first fish - a conger of about 20 lb. That went back and a fairly regular haul of good sized pout and dogs were hauled aboard. We were fishing in about 100 ft of water and the tide meant we needed 2 lb of lead to hold the bottom. We spent most of the day on the first mark but about 2 pm when we finally realised the cod were away on holiday, we upped anchor and moved about 4 miles to a new spot. We then started pulling in dogs and whiting with the occasional pout. We had a very enjoyable day and I can strongly recommend the ‘Moonshine’ and skipper Peter Churchill if you fancy a day out with regular hot cups of tea. I was too tired to cook last night, but I cleaned two whiting and they are going on my plate this evening. Yum yum. __________________ Fruit? - That's what keeps me going. |
