Forum Boat Trip 13th June Wight Huntress

well what i can i say, it was abit on the slow side today
we all meet up at the lay-by just off the M27 as aranged all on time, it was looking like it was gonna be a great day, the sun was just starting to break through and there was little wind, all was set for a brilient days fishing
we soon got out on the water and were bait collecting next to the castle things
the 1st fish to come aboard was a lovely small pollack by richard (it was luck ) and then ralf had the 1st mackerel of the day
we moved on abit to try to find the mackerel, the next stop i got a mackerel and so did jim juniour i think
the mackerel were proving hard to find so we moved off to our choosen fishing mark just south of the isle of wight where afew more mackerel were taken by most and richard got this garrrrrrrrrrr fish, i dont think the photo made it look any bigger richard

quite a swell was building up now and weed was a problem but small bream and mackerel were being caught by all
just as we were about to move on imram got snaped off by a fish, possibely a tope but we dont know
we moved on to another mark where smoothys were surposed to be but the fish were no where to be seen, i think about 4 fish were taken here for about 4 hours i think, most by imram and all little bream (1 keeper which fell off at the boat)
the wind and swell were really starting to pick up now so a decision was made to head inland and drift over a small wreck for mackerel and possibly bass
the mackerel were here and ever1 managed quite fair catches off them, i was tryna get 1 on a dexter wedge and light spinning rod for most of this time but the tide was too strong and the wedge wasnt heavy enough
it was then the end of the day so we headed back
i had a really good day even though the fishing could have been better, company was great and i had a real good laugh
i hope every1 else enjoyed it as much as me
thanks to every1 for organising it and making it possible
final score was multiple bream doggies and mackerel, 1 gar fish and 1 pollack

Re: Forum Boat Trip 13th June Wight Huntress

Thanks for the post ben and I think the garfish must have been 3lb looking at the pic

Hard day but everyone caught and the weather (F4) forced us to stick to one mark along with about 5 other boats

Had a nice day with myself catching dogs / bream / pollock and a garfish

Cheers john for the boat and getting the bait ( including ben and brett for the crab )

So the smoothounds are for another day and its time for curry and chips
