| totally gutted!! fished warsash today, last minute decision i bought a few rag on the way, walked along the beach and picked up loads of hardback crabs about an inch across, started fishing about 13.00 not alot for about an hour and a half, as usual when you look away and then look back big slack line! the whole heart goes up into the mouth reel in like a looney, then wack the old rod bends right over i reeled in about twenty turns rod going like mad it felt like the biggest fish i've had then it all locked up i kept the pressure on for two or three minutes then i walked up the beach one way then the other way for five minutes or so then the big snap off! to say i was gutted is the politest way i could put it. I sat down and sulked for a few minutes then i got back too it i had a little bream and loads of bites on rag but i think the hooks were too big as the smallest i had was a 1.0 still i am still buzzing (if only) still thats fishing     |

| Re: totally gutted!! definatly a smoothound, slack lining like that and then going, we have found its usualy the 5-8lb sized fish which slack line you and then put up the best fight, the double i had the other day was like a dead weight till i got it close was it busy down there? i am going tomorrow for acouple of hours with a friend from work to show him how its done fancy fishing a night there soon? __________________ Bens The Name And Catchings The Game Anti the Anti's |

 Re: totally gutted!! Poutmaster, Shame about losing your fish mate....sounds like a smoothound alright. Their runs especially from the larger fish are scorchers. I find it helps to play them out on the clutch for a time before giving them some welly.
