Cool Mullett Mayhem

Hi Guys,

I hope you all had a good bank holiday weekend.

I could not get out Smutt hunting this weekend, but I did manage to get to a secret location for some Thick Lip Grey Mullett fishing.

What a brilliant fish to catch, I’d hate to connect with a 15lb’er!

Fished my location for a couple of hours early this morning and had about 12 fish.
Bait was bread flake with liquidized bread as groundbait. 1.4mm hook length and a size 18 hook bite indicator was a normal waggler float. What a scrap for fish of a nearly couple of pounds.
Sadly no Big Un’s yet although a 3lb 12oz fish was caught there a couple of days ago and a 5lb 7oz fish was caught there last year. It seems the larger fish only come in for a few weeks and then are gone, maybe they come in to spawn?

Here’s my Mullett, not a big one but that may come later…..

to be continued………………

All fish were returned safely to fight another day.

I think it has something to do with being an ex-coarse fishing matchman..just can't seem to get out of the habit of fishing light tackle to give the fish a chance
