Bass at last

I have caught Bass at last. Went pluging in the Fleet here in Weymouth this afternoon with Empty Seas for a couple of hours and had a couple of nice Bass. Derek caught his first ever Bass so he was happy. The pics are here http://www.g2fhf.com/fishing/images/bass1.jpg
http://www.g2fhf.com/fishing/images/bass2.jpg

Off to Devon on Sunday for a week to hopefully catch some more.

Re: Bass at last

Hmmm, I spy with my little eye, a RAPALA!!!

I have a couple of those but never used them - Whats the best way of catching with them, as they don't weigh much so never seem to get any good distance?!

Re: Bass at last

Nice one!!

Must get into this plugging lark - it looks like a lot of fun.

I think I'll invest in a Rapalla or two, but try and use them over clean ground at 10 quid a chuck!!

Cheers,
JB.

Re: Bass at last

I use a Shimano Hyperloop carp rod and a little Okuma FS reel with 8lb line and can cast the Rapala a good 40yds. I was even able to get that sort of distance with a little 8 gramme surface popper. I usually go plugging in the Fleet and haven't lost a lure yet. There were Bass all around us yesterday often within 5 yards so I'll be out with the fly gear as soon as poss.

Off to Devon tomorrow for a week so going to try my luck around Dartmouth. If anyone wants to join me just ask Devon Dave for my number.

Jon
