| trip 1, dibden bay. 15/1/2012 finally took george ( gj senior) out for a flattie bash now his knee replacement has settled down. after grabbing some nice little wriggley rag from bells we parked up & wandered off over the bridge and along dibden bay for a short walk.  and set up at about 11am with the tide makeing nicely,  baits were ragworm only and the target was flounder , i fished my refurbished diawa 3h millionaire on the awb 122pm and another 3h on a light fishzone 9ft rod. rigwise i went for blinged 2 hook flapper and a 1 up 1 down blinged wessex. hooks sized 4's the weather stayed dry but a stiff sse wind was blowing up the estuary kicking up a few waves and stiring the mud nicely.  george fished abu 6500's on his moonraker and sandstorm, rigwise he went for size 2 pennel on a long i down rig combined with d-vice breakaway grippers. the wind and my tackle selection kept casts fairly short and it wasn't long before george kicked things off with a flounder, bloody pensioner showing me how its done again     he then really rubbed it in by catching a schoolie before i had had one bite.  then i started the catch up with a titchy checker of my own  we had a couple more titchy bass each then it went dead over high tide between 2 & 3pm, but as the ebb started a very plump and unexpected shore rockling pounced on my bait. unusual in daylight i thought but the water was very coloured.    we had planned on packing up before dark but as the sun started to down the tings started to feed , i caught 1 for the hunt before leaving for home with 3 species under my belt but no flounder yet.  , need to go to poole i think. __________________ beer so many venues, so little time.     |
