Fisging on Eastbourne Pier Yesterday 10/1/12

Had an unexpected half day off from work yesterday and what better to do than to go fishing on Eastbourne Pier.
I had been planning to do this since the x-mas holidays but from one reason or another never got round to it.

Was there at about 10:30 am and set up 1 rod with live lug and another rod with Mackerel strips.

About half an hour in to the session the lug rod had a nudge but nothing more, left it for another 10 minutes and the rod did not move
So I thought the bugger had nicked the lug, so reeled in and to my big surprise there was this little dab on the hook.


Don't know why the photo came out this dark coz it was bright daylight lol

put the little dab back and re-baited with live lug and off we went again.
Next thing I know, about half hour later the Mackerel rod gets a few proper shakes and reeled in and guess what came out ........



Mr Crab lol, not a small one but unfortunately for me (fortunate for him) just not big enough to make the dinner plate.

Then had nothing for an hour or 2 and after a re-bait and cast with live lug, the next one came out



Not small either, but after much hmmmm-ing & rrr-ing decided not big enough for the dinner plate either and let him swim off in the distance :-).

All in all an enjoyable 5 hours on Eastbourne pier, which was even made better due to the fact
that there were only 2 of us fishing on the lower platform.
Myself and a guy from Heathrow (I believe) who came all the way to Eastbourne on the train in the morning rush, just to do a spot of fishing!!!
My respects for you sir !

Cant wait til Friday or Saturday to do the next round on Pevensey Bay beach
