Weekend Worm Massacre!

Intending to head out down Eastney way for the Saturday afternoon HT.

Been a while since I last fished when I could actually see if my casting is actually getting better.
It 'feels' it when letting go, and there's been a few *reel* ...... *reel* ........ "Jesus I hit this one!" .... *reel* times too.

If anyone fancies popping down and offering some much needed advice, to fish, or even just to say hello, just let me know.

Re: Weekend Worm Massacre!

High Tide is 14:30.

Intend to get there to fish it in for a bit as well as out.
But knowing me, even with best intentions I normally end up running late..

Will definately be keeping an eye out!
Any clues as to what I should be looking for, or what end/part are you aiming for?

Not 100% sure on how I'll 'look' atm....
Also being a 'Foot Driven' Fisherman, I tend to pitch where the feeling takes me as I stroll along.

May be Black Beach Buddy, or (I think it's) dark blue (only been out twice, once was a check over the other was night fishing) semi-tent.
Will probably depend on conditions, the BB will stand up to a lot more weather of course, but the other one I can comfortably lay down and chill in!
It even has an extended ground sheet that sticks up over the front to act as a 'door'!
Perfect for a Summer time low tide snooze on the beach!

Also I now have a deadline to get at least one of my reports written up....
Only a couple of quick trips, but one worth a write up just for the photo's alone!

Re: Weekend Worm Massacre!

I intend to head down to Royal Marines Museum.

Can even give my (almost) exact beach decent spot too!
Heading from SPP, the first big lampost on the right (Prom) side, just there is a bench and a bin too.

"Such an exact location?" you may ask.....
After the other night hitting a new PB for fish on a trip (which at one point even had me apologising to my mate for my rod activity), and also another trip that pulls my first blank of the year.....
I want to head back to a happy hunting ground!

Looking at the forecast, will be setting up camp with dark blue (with light blue strips) bivvy,
you can't miss it, it's ~8' wide! and has a bloody great Halfords logo on one side too...
Aiming to be there hopefully 12:30-13:00, and can hopefully pitch far enough up the beach...
Last trip was not only blank, but the tide seemed to have a second coming....
*Should* of been on way out when I arrived way late, due to over sleeping, due to fishing the previous night tide, but even after pitching on a little ridge for saftey, my bivvy still got a good wash on one end!

So much for the aforementioned deadline......
Another couple of trips squeezed in now too!
6 Trips to catch up (from Boxing Day night onwards) if I counting right...
Think it may be a *MASS* report...
Some of it is worth posting along with pics, but one trip comes down to one line "Even the crabs didn't want to know...."

Re: Weekend Worm Massacre!

Hi

I plan to fish somewhere tomorrow so if I can find eastney (portsmouth ?) I will come and say hello.

Is there any free parking ? most councils charge all year round nowadays.

Cheers

Re: Weekend Worm Massacre!

More than happy to help with some general directions or probably easier to dig out a postcode or something for Sat Nav (or Google Maps).

Clicky here!

The spot I'm aiming for, well to head down the beach anyway, (as mentioned in previous post) is just behind the white car on the map.
The whole area can sometimes get very popular, but seems to fish quite well along most of the surrounding beach.

I have (so far) only 1 (maybe 2 spots/areas) that I won't fish along Eastney.
First down to a "2 cast, 2 lost rigs to MEGA MONSTER weed, pack up" trip.
The other I have now fished a couple of times, always had my doubts on the spot, but until you try you can't really know.
Previously called it the "Dead? Zone", but after last trip it's the "Dead, Buried, and Decomposed Zone".
Even the crabs didn't want my bait!
Both are a lot further along towards South Parade Pier, so no fear of getting anywhere near there.
Not saying that end is bad, as one of the most popular marks (The Blocks) along the front is more or less smack bang in between the 2 spots.

Parking all along the seafront (where available) is free at this time of year due to being 'off season'.

Re: Weekend Worm Massacre!

Cheers for info, I usually go the other side of Southampton so it may be worth trying a change of venue.
