| Penzance 1/1/12 As planned i managed to get out for my 1st sesh of the year today, wind and a bit of rain meant i would play safe and head for the harbour instead of any rock marks. Got a load of rag from a friend yesterday who was on a mission to be the drunkest man in the town for new year and would be in no fit state to fish for a day or two  .HT around 10pm i decided to try the inner harbour for flounder from late afternoon as the tide started to push but the crabs had other ideas and beat the flounder to every bait  bloody things were hanging onto the bait in buches everytime i wound in. Tried keeping the bait moving with beads and spinner blades but still no fish, several mangled rigs later as darkness was falling i tried some mackie and sandeel baits over the wall to the outside of the harbour with the same results more chewed up rigs and bait, had a few small rattles on the rods but nothing really positive. Then comes the heavy rain  to really set the day off, tried a few more chucks on the inner harbour with rag again and at last caught my first fish of 2012 a fine wee bar of silver Quick picture and set free to grow bigger. | Re: Penzance 1/1/12 Well done on the bass Steve! Sounds like a frustrating session which ended well. I haven't been able to get out hardly at all during the last few months. I'm starting to get withdrawal symptoms. I have high hopes for 2012! I'm home on the 11th so will be trying for a cod then. All the best.
