| A day up the river Went and spent the day far up the river teign with a mate called Mark and someone he knows from the Exmouth club called Simon, We had agreed to meet at 8 in the morning. Along the tight country lanes I was greeted by the sight of a articulated lorry stuck in the lanes after his sat nav sent him the wrong way to newton abbot, After about 20 mins he managed to reverse down the lane enough to create a passing space and it was on to the mark. I had never been to this mark before and was following the two in front and after what can only be described as arriving in hill billy land we were down the steep rutted excuse for a road that ended on the bank of the river teign. A short walk back down the river saw us fishing another spot that we would be cut off at high tide, We were fishing right into the main channel of the teign and 5 dozen good sized peeler were sure to entice the flounders onto anyone of the 6 rods and 15 or so hooks that were baited up and chucked into the teign. Well that was the plan anyway, After spending the day standing in the rain, me falling over whilst walking back to the car with my gear, Having my chair collapse and break and Simons van not being able to get back up the steep rutted excuse of a road until he had let most of the air out of his front tyres the total catch for the day was a big fat zero and without a single recognisable bite other than crabs ! But hey ho.. A good day was had and plenty of banter was told, Will deffo be trying this place again as it looks as though it could fish its tits off on the right day and I know that the two recent flounder comps were won buy fish caught on this Mark. Think I'll be trying the river exe soon as have heard of some good reports from there at the moment. __________________ http://www.rjwpt.co.uk/ |
