| Calling all Coddie Experts Hi All, I'm determined to catch a Codling or Cod this winter. I've had three attempts recently mainly at Abbotsbury. Fish last night for six hours and caught a few nice whiting and some dogs. Did not see any Cod being caught.  Today's lunch. Whiting fried with garlic, crushed fennel seed and Cayenne pepper. Ok but I may deep fry them in batter next time.  How hard is it to catch cod. Do you have to do mammoth sessions. I can only manage six hour sessions. Do you need expensive peelers and lug or can you catch them on dirty squid. How important is it the location. I live in Honiton so is it worth driving the extra few mills to Ferrybridges. Do you have to fish when its rough or just after a storm. How important is your casting distance. Or is it just being at the right place at the right time. What frustrates me a bit is the fishing shops always tell you that loads of Cod are being caught so you drive to the beach with such high hopes. Any tips would be appreciated.  Sam.     |
