ODB is on a distinguished road
mudeford quay whiting

hi not be on for a while due to illness
but still manage to get out once or twice a week
we (mrs ODB and me) have been catching a good few whiting and not bad size smallest is normally a pound biggest two pound best sport we have had this year to be honest
you can take them on the bottom with a floating rig just off the bottom or much more fun is to use a carp rod with a sliding float rig and starlite just trot the float along the edge of the quay wall, with a thin strip of squid (soaked in pilchard oil seems to pick them up quicker)
always fish the run up as there to much weed/crap in the water on the run off
and if you fish at the end of the car park closest to the pub sea ward side, you have some great sport they fight well on the lite gear , oh and in the dark is best hence the starlite!

last week we had 8 and 7 each in three hours and all between 1 and 2 pound
as mrs ODB is quiet new to the game it was the most fish mrs ODB and best fighting fish she has ever caught in one session

last week we did use a bag from some oranges as a rubby dubby idea with tinned sardines, frozen macky, bran and fish oil all chopped up dropped over the edge of the quay up tide by a few yards,
we caught twice as much as we had been doing there,

we tend to put out a whole squid on a floating rig rod while we float fish looking for a bass even had whiting on that !

hope some gets some fun like we had down there if you see some fishing with a little green car a woo "matis" come and say hi
if you want some fun try it out

ODB

Re: mudeford quay whiting

Glad you are getting better. Those whiting are a lovely size compared to those we are catching in the Thames. I think most of the south coast has been 'whiting city' for the past few weeks, but they ain't any size. I've been out three times in the past fortnight with a couple of mates and we've all caught shed loads of whiting but none longer than 31cm! That's considerably less than a pound - not worth taking home. Kind regards.
