| Hi all, Went to Seaton to practice casting with my newish Emcast 15' rod. I was trying to perfect the cast Allan Yates used. Swing the lead left then right then punch forward. Started hitting some good distances. I should have stopped but no I tryed one last cast with a longer swing. The rod tip exploded into three pieces. Very upsetting ![]() . Has anyone had any luck sending broken rods back to the manufactors. Can you get replacment rod tip sections. Any advice would be good.Cheers. Sam. |

| Re: Monday morning blues after snapping my rod That's really rough luck. I do know that some manufacturers warn against trying 'pendulum' type casts with longer rods. They tell you to stick with a well executed overhead thump. I've been looking at 15 or 16 footers myself and Littlefish warned me about the risk of casting them using a pendulum. Nevertheless, it may be that your rod was faulty - especially if you was only doing what Alan Yates, the 'expert' recommended. Don't delay, get back to the place you bought it from and see what they can do for you. If you get no joy, get back to the manufacturers. Keep us posted. Kind regards. __________________ Kissin' don't last! Fishin' do. |

| Re: Monday morning blues after snapping my rod how old is the rod???? whatever you do don't tell them you were learning to pendulem cast with it.... as a rule these longer rods are for slow overhead thumps __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |

| Re: Monday morning blues after snapping my rod I have had the rod for a month. Veals want me to send the rod back for inspection. When casting with a overhead thump I have struggled to generate a decent curve in the rod. For anyone thinking of trying the longer rods, they do take some getting use to. I was hitting distances that I have never reached before by swinging the lead, however with a six ounce lead it was simply too much for the rod even though it is supposed to take an eight once lead. | Re: Monday morning blues after snapping my rod Have a read up on the Sale of Goods Act 1979, your dealing with fitness for purpose. You brought the rod to fish with, if it explodes while casting it is not fit for purpose!! Your contract exists between yourself and the retailer, they have a seperate contract with the manufacturer so you should not have to let them inspect it. They can offer you a repair or replacement, by the sounds of it a repair is out of the question. As said by other people just make sure you tell them you were using the rod as any other REGULAR angler would (NOT PENDULUM CASTING !!!!) __________________ Species for 2011: Pike, Perch, Chub, Roach, Silver Eel, Thorn Back Ray. |

| Re: Monday morning blues after snapping my rod 'fishing' is as it says on the tin is fishing, irrellevant of what cast was being used, as the rod is only 1 month old, it could not have been used every day, even if it was, then only 30 days wear n tear, then the manufacturer should replace without quibble, it would sound as if the blank had a 'flaw' in the making. If the rod wasn't trodden on or any other accidental mishap, then any reputable shop or manufacturer should replace, they may want the rod back, for them to analize for any structural problems. __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity. |

You brought the rod to fish with, if it explodes while casting it is not fit for purpose!! Can I play devil's advocate here? Since there are many different types of fishing, we must surely buy gear that's appropriate to us as individuals. So, if you bought a light fly rod and it broke when you took it to the beach and were trying to land a double cod, could you say that it wasn't fit for purpose? Just a thought......Kind regards. __________________ Kissin' don't last! Fishin' do. |

would you pendulem with a carp rod or barbel rod??? much the same as you wouldn't pendulem with an uptide rod....or a bass rod exactly the same with "a long rod" they are continental style rods not built to with stand the pressures of pendulem......they are for delivering fragile baits intact over good distance with a slow overhead thump. but its done best if he has a word with them, doesn't say that he was trying to pendulem cast, get a new tip section out of them and only use it for Over head thumping in future. __________________ 2012 targets - 180 yard measured cast, 10lb bull huss, 12lb blonde, 10lb hound, 8lb small eyed, spotted ray any size |
