Hayling - Saturday Morning All, Well, having not got out in a few weeks i had a planned trip to Hayling Saturday morning with my neighbour. Got down to East stoke around 9 ready for the 11.30 High. Sea was a bit rough, a good swell coming in and the wind was getting up, but sent the leads flying and waited with anticipation.......... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! Rigs were coming back in baited up just as sent out! not single bite! Tried all sorts, Rag, Lug, Squid, combo's nothing was happening. Having lost a couple of set ups, my neighbour was getting cheesed off aswell, so about 1 we packed up and headed to portsmouth. Plan was for South Parade Pier, but having arrived to find that was 'closed for fishing until further notice' we headed down to old portsmouth to try the channel. Sea was a bit calmer round there, so again out went the leads, but again, NOTHING! Another complete blank for me! Enthusiasm is starting to die off a bit now!!!! My neighbour saved a blank with a tiny pollack on the end of the line to his suprise as we reeled in to pack up.... Oh well, chin up, plan the bext trip and hope for better!!! Thinking trips further afield are in order! hope others have had some better luck!!!

Re: Hayling - Saturday I think we all get a bit discouraged when we've had a succession of blank sessions but you just have to bite the bullet and tell yourself that next time will be different. And sooner or later, it will be!! So stick with it and I'm sure you'll soon be posting a report of a good session. Kind regards. __________________ Kissin' don't last! Fishin' do.

Re: Hayling - Saturday Unlucky on your blank mate but i would still rather be out and about than sitting in front of the tv,and remember it only takes one cast and one fish and the world seems a much brighter place tight lines and good luck chap ![]()

Re: Hayling - Saturday unlucky, it appears very quiet down south lately, apart from 'ish' with his catches, seems to be only bits being caught, you may possibly be right about roaming further afield, although it appears to be consistently poor elsewhere, just hope the cod are going to put in an appearance SOON, fingers crossed. __________________ good luck and tight lines chris lifes to short for animosity.

| Re: Hayling - Saturday Quote:
But even I totally blanked on Saturday! (Unless you really want to count a limpet attached to a stone on one of the weed monsters. Saying that I actually 'caught' a cockle the other day, pulled line in at it was clamped on my hook (have pic! ))Hit a lovely (yet another PB!) Bass on the Fri night, which prompted the Sat morning outing. Only thing that came out of that was a new found respect for my own endurance and a good kicking delivered to my own fair weather fisherman tag. Even with 'attempting' to get some distance, my casts looked more like I had just 'plopped' it out. Although that's where the Bass was caught the previous tide.... although the water was much calmer Fri night/Sat (I left the beach some time or other after 3am...) (FAO Chris, By gawd that Rod has some bend when in to a nice fish!) That's a bugger to hear about SPP.... I went for a walk up there a couple/few weeks ago to have a look at conditions. Saw only 1 "No Fishing Here" sign part way down one side... Almost considered heading up there myself on Sat, but with the wind (and the fact I got home ~4am, repacked my gear, refreshed my supplies, tanked up on coffee and headed straight back out) I knew I would need the 'comfort' of a bivvy. Which was known to be stable in winds topping out ~15 mph... With the recent (only last trip when packing up) discovery that the 'tabs' where the poles go in also have a tent peg hole! (It's not my bivvy )Have to admit it had some extra help (Un-setup 2nd Rod shoring it up against the wind from the other side!) on Sat afternoon, but wind was more like 25+ with some huge gusts too! But I just stuck it out while feeling neglected as it appeared even the crabs didn't want my bait! After the cold (well it was to me!), and the wind, I feel that as long as it's not a as good as face on wind I can fish! Rain... that could be another matter, but 1 step at a time. I get down Eastney as often I can, blanks are normally avoided it seems... Normally get at least something even if it's something just to beat the blank, but have seemed to hit quite a rich run of Bass recently. Depending on the weather as usual, may be heading down there this coming Sat afternoon/evening for the 17:50 tide. More than happy to share my 'marks' down that way. Can even GPS locate most of my fish pics! ![]() ![]() Roll on Xmas! People always say they don't know waht to get me, and local Tackle shop does gift vouchers! If I don't get enough for a Beach Buddy* , I'm sorted for bait for a while! *Need my own bivvy as currently using my mate's a lot more than he actually is, and although it does a job and packs down very small it's not the most robust/suited to this time of year.. __________________ -- Bart Rank : Rod Rattling Rookie!
