Report-Lite of a Fishing-Lite trip!

Due to major winds, rain, or at times both....
My need to get a trip in had been growing out of control due to the nightmare of my previous trip.
(2 casts, 2 lost rigs... packed up due to weed!)

Conditions were looking almost favourable, tide was 4am which was long shot to say the least.
But still the 'We going fishing-lite tonight then? Got enough bait in freezer!"
At first it looked grim, mate's wife was having none of it.....
But just like fishing, persistance paid off!
He eventually gave in, and made whatever promises he needed too!

Decided after my last trip, and the fact we ALWAYS fish there, Eastney was ruled out!
Intentend to 'Have a go' off South Parade Pier after doing a recon trip on it the other day.
But main gates appeared closed on drive-by...
" **** off am I climbing that!" was the comment from mate.
He being of the more stout, or as I call him FAT! build, I could see his point.

So off we set for Clarence Pier....
Some buggers had not only beat us to the spot that was wanted!

Then it was off down to the Round Tower....
Where we eventually set up with the joy of trying a new spot.
Lesson #1
The tidal rush in to the harbour when fishing from the beach is bloody crazy!
Casting away from our spot, and then further against flow, by the time I set Rod down on tripod it was going the other way!!

Landed a little Pollock from the beach, which was very rapidly retreated up in the end!
Also the heart warming find that the 'Blue Pier' is now open again.
When it was closed, it was just a few bars to climb over really, but now they have repaired the main bits at the end (moved the the blocking bars really..)

Many a fond memory of Bass fishing from there in my youth.
Was rather cold and windy last night though.....
But *WILL* be revisited under better conditions!
Anything other than a southerly wind really, as it has pretty good surrounding cover.
Also a much more suitable high tide time too!

Nice wind/weather for the week of 21st Nov...
Off work the whole week and tides looking nice!
