fished scars last night with a few mates,whiting from the start with one or two good size fish showing,baits used last night blacks blows,partysquid and raw tigerprawn.
We were chating about the fishing and the conversation got on to dogfish and how we dont see them at scars very often when lo and behold i gets a good pull down and then a drop back,we all thought codling but on reeling in its a dog that comes over the wall and not a codling,a good size of around the 2lb mark.
perhaps we should of talked about the cod and not dogs lol.

anything on the prawn mate ? something im thinking of trying along with big mussel baits - no doubt to tempt dogs.. something im a natural at

we had a lot of the whitings on prawn

Well in there mate, good to see you got into some fish!!! Hopefully the codling will be in the estuary soon although with all this rain about I am worried about to much freshwater from the drains keeping them out of reach?

Joe its looking very poor on the cod front for the rivers at the moment,i spoke to a mate last night and he told me the lads out in the boats on the river havent had a sniff of any, only dogs and whiting with the odd small bass.

Me and Noel are considering abandoning our Shorne plans for Sunday and are going to wait for some more favourable weather before we give it a bash. After a re-think we are toying with the idea of hitting the boats at Hythe on Saturday night instead. S/W winds forecast, Spring tides with H/W at 00.35 and a new moon so should be nice and dark. Providing the wind stays its predicted direction then I recon it should throw out a few Cod , fancy joining us?

Joe i think your right about shorne, Hythe would be my choice on these tides.
There is more of a chance of seeing a codling or two.
