parked the car up at 5.30pm .loaded myself up with gear walked off to the beach . what i saw next i was not expecting . as i walked over the top of the shingle bank . the top of the beach was black with weed , thinning as it went down to the waters edge . fuk i thought ! after standing there for 10 minutes . thought sod it ill give it ago , as could not sea a weed floating around . just a small amount in the surf line . the sea was very choppy and heavelly coloured , with a stiff s/w f4-5 that was due to drop a little as the night went on . set my igloo up and then allen dec turned up , jus in time to point out the black clouds plowing towards us . so he went back to the car to sit it out . good move as the rain came down on mass along with the wind gusting around a f8 . this lasted for around 5min , then gone .

alan then came and set up to my left . i was going to fish pulley pennel and a 2 hook loop rig . baits wer lug , crab and dirty squid . question was , what was the weed going to be like ? time would tell ? well the 1st casts produced little to no weed , result . then around 7.30pm jaycee and diawadanny turnned up . just in time for my 1st doggie . then ospray1 turned up , but could not fish due to peronell problem , but picked up his baiit he had ordered , had a chat and left . nice meeting you . by 9.30pm had another 2 and missed a few bites . then bang the wind dropped . the swell built really quick . the problem was then that you could hold bottom alright , but struggled to get anything back through the swell due to it was black with weed ! so for the next few hours hardly fished . manged to lose 2 sets of gear in the swell due to shear weight of weed . then just after midnight the swell eazed and the weed died off , result . straight back to the fishing and straight away back into fish . had another doggie a few missed bites . all evening we were watching thunder storms out at sea . around 1 am out of the blue one appeared off selsey . with in minutes the rain started and the wind got up to what felt like a f5 straight a way and started to rain . that was enough for us and packed up . was not going to risk fishing in a storm . shame the swell was there with heavy weed over the peak , bite time . ened up with just 4 doggies . still never mind . ill be back . il let the others tell you of there nights fishing if they want ?

As alan has already said conditions looked good apart from the weed sat on the beach at high water line it was like walking on a mattress so it was inevidable it would become a pain when the water reached it but hay ho was there so set up and gave it a go , time i had set up and in the water, thought id better say hello to alldec and walk up he had packed up and gone (sorry mate speak to you next time) but did meet osprey nice to meet you mate.
Bites were coming all the way up to high tide catching 3 dogs then the trouble started with the weed snagging MAJOR rafts on the way in landing only 1 more dog and losing 2 lots of tackle but still good night in all no blank and not being out fished by browners for a change

Sounds like a hard nights fishing ,gotta take my hat off to you for even setting up , at least you got a free light show

more brains in a surgeons bucket ... when will you lot learn that Al brings the weed with him !!
looking forward to my weed free session on chesil where there are some nice fish
