Had a trip on "Pathfinder" today out of Folkestone after hearing that they had some Cod on Saturday.
Drove down in a heavy frost although the temp in the car was showing
2 degrees boarded the boat and steamed out to the Metropole in near perfect conditions:


Put the uptider out with Whole Squid and tried the feathers on the 20lb class which produced a couple of late Mackeral, Then the LSDs found the Squid and everyone was catching them with the odd Smut pup for a change.

As the tide eased we started to swing on the anchor so moved about 3 mile out to get the last of the tide, as the tide dropped of I put a 2 hook boom rig on the 20lb so as to avoid the dreaded tangles , both hooks were baited with Mackeral which resulted in this Species No 52 for the year:

If you baited with squid you had either a LSD or a Smut some of which were getting on for 10lb which is good fun on the light rod.
By about 2.30 the wind had got up and was preventing the boat from turning around to face downtide so as we were only getting tangles and not fish we decided to call lines up and went back in for cuppa.
Bought some loverly dressed Crabs from Chummy's on the harbour front also had a look at the menu for the new 5 million pound Resturant in the harbour, prices were quite good but it will take them a long time to recover the building costs.
