Eaststoke corner lastnight 14/10/11

Bit of an impromptu sesh as I was supposed to be going out tonight instead but as always the female of the species had other ideas! Lol.
Anyways, decided to fish a different part of hayling as I fancied a change of scenery. Ended up just east of the coast gaurd look out, as I pulled into the car park at 6pm I spotted a couple of fellow bait drowners packing up for the day, their verdict....... No fish but plenty of crabs stealing bait...... Doh!
I got my self onto the beach and set up as low tide came and my 1st bait was in the water ready for the beggining of the flood. Baits used were, rag, squid, frozen peeler, frozen black lug and mackerel. The weather was glorious for an october evening, a light n.e wind meant that casting was easy and hardly any cloud in the sky. The sea was realitivly flat too. Right from the first cast my baits were being stripped with in 10 mins with no signs of a bite so had to be crabs, it didnt seem to matter where I put my bait, if I left it out 15mins or more I would reel in totaly bare hooks!
As the sun set I saw my first couple of little rattles but couldnt seem to connect with a fish, this set the tone for the evening untill around 11pm when out of nowhere the wind picked up and put some movement into the water, untill this point I had been using small hooks on both rods and wacking them out as far as possible but with a nice surf starting.go to build up I opted to drop a pennel baited with a good sized bit of mackerel belly in close, glad I did too because not more than 15mins later my rod had an almighty bang and then started bouncing all over the place, the culprit was a bass of 37cm that was hooked nicely in the bottom lip, he was unhooked and returned to the sea and I rebaited and cast out again hoping for another. I even pulled in my other rod, changed over to a pennel rig baited with lug and a squid head and cast that so it was sitting just off the end of the groin, 15-20 mins later, just as I was thinking I best change my mackerel bait my rod slammed again, another bass was beached may 2 or 3 cms bigger than the first , again he was unhooked and returned. Then my lug and squid bait got attacked and another bass was on the beach, a lil smaller than the first. This went on untill around 4am when the bites just stopped, it didnt seem to matter what I put out there with in 30mins of putting it out I would have a bass on one of my rods. Although they did get smaller as tje night went on, I ended up with a total of 7 bass - 4 of them were just in size but all were put back to fight again. I will try to put up some picks later today :-)

Nice trip there.
I will have to get some fine tuned location details so I can try and persuade my mate to drive over that way.

My thoughts exactly Browners. Although I did lay two wives tales to rest last night, "when the wind blows east, fish bite least" and that a clear night with full moon kills the fishing. Lol
