| 13/10/2011 A beautiful sunny afternoon! After not the best start to the day.... Alarm was set for 8-8.30am, I woke up around 11.... ![]() Decided that despite the bad omen, I would still head out for the afternoon. So off I set to the Tackle Shop for bait, for once I was actually good and only replaced a light/bell combo that I lost/cast on last trip ![]() Thought although I've already lost a good couple of hours, I'd still go overboard on bait. By the time I got back to pick up my pre-packed Holdall, I was sweating like mad!! October.... I was only out in a t-shirt! ![]() Slight change to previous plan, rather than hurridly planning a new venue I decided to fish the good ol' faithful Eastney beach. BUT... from a whole new 'mark/area'! Not quite a new venue, but the beach is long enough for a good variety. After moving while setting up, some of the waves were coming up a lot higher than the usual areas I fish, I finally got a line wet. ![]() Set up 2nd Rod, poured coffee (have now added another 'perma-loan' item Flask) to my kit list), and kicked back in the sun. ... ...... ......... Hmmm.... So much for this being a 'competition' spot..... as it was the other night.... A few almost undectable bait strips later.... "TING!TING!".... Oooh... ..... Bam! A double first! Nothing fancy, but the first catch of the trip and also first fish caught on a Rod kindly donated to me by another forum member. So this one's dedicated to you Chris! ![]() ![]() After my last day trip (no report posted, 1 Bream and nice photo only), I had said to my mate that I thnk once I catch in future I'll pack up and go home. Had the one mad 4 in one trip once, when I wanted to chill!, since then it's been 1 trip 1 fish...... Then I seemed to start finding the weed monsters.... So I thought I might as well take a "This is why I go fishing" pic. ![]() Poking out from the right of the pic is "South Parade Pier". The poles in the water are markers of "The blocks", if you not know them, you'll see in a bit. The land mass in the background in the Isle of Wight. The tide is quite a way down when pic taken, the sandy parts are well gone at high tide. Things then started to pick up a little... A few bites, a couple more small Bream, one of which came in with a Crab on another hook! Then came a nice suprise.... ![]() Not caught a wrasse since I last "down the posts" fished off SP Pier! Thoughts now trained on going for the record!!! But.... was that rain I felt in the air.... ![]() Thankfully the weather held out, although the wind started picking up. Baited both rods and commited "Last casts"... Started tidying/packing up. "Oh well, looks like it an equal bet of 4, not that I can complain!" In comes rod #1..... Cha-Ching!!! ![]() They maybe tiny, but that makes Fish #5 and #6! It's a new record! Rod #2..... Snagged on way in (first ever off Eastney) lost the lot. ![]() Still I suppose it saved cleaning the hooks. So that was my lovely mid-October afternoon sat in the sun.... Mid-October..... not complaining, but the weather is confusing!!! All packed and ready to go, I thought I'd share one last look along the beach. ![]() Now with the tide further down, "The blocks" are now visable on the left. That's all folks..... Next trip 'planning in progress...." for Night 24th or/and Day 25th. Mainly weather dependant of course, have some bait already 'saved' from today. Next night trip it's "Stuffed Squid" on the menu for Mr or Mrs Big Fat Bass! ![]() __________________ -- Bart Rank : Rod Rattling Rookie! Bait Bung'ing Beginner! | Re: 13/10/2011 A beautiful sunny afternoon! Thanks all for the nice comments. Condensed relpy to many posts.... Exercise.... That's one thing I go fishing to avoid! Apart from my hikes to spots of course. As for not needing it, that couldn't be a more correct statement... Stick a few eyes and a reel on me and you got a walking Rod! ![]() Fun is always had when fishing, it's the one place where I leave everything behind and go into my own little existence. Some times life is pondered, but mostly my mind is left to wander off where it wants. Due to enjoying reading others reports, I try to make mine worth a read. Which would be part of the reason my prev 2 trips are unreported. The morning tide after my first night fish altough was a quiet affair with just the 1 bream, it did produce a nice personal photo. ![]() Nothing fancy, just another 'View' shot. This time of what I was looking at most of the day through bloodshot sleep deprived eyes! Top right corner is my mates Bivvy being used mainly as a Sun shade. Also my feet, a sail boat, and a huge cargo ship. Main reason I mention the cargo ship, is in 'Sunset' photo the shape behind the end of the pier is not a boat, but a massive great big sea fort. (1 of 4 in the area.) The local Kyakers will prob be able to provide a much better pic. ![]() Or I'd be happy to be taken along so I could get a better pic of course. The other trip was a gawd awful late evening/night affair! The conditions were bad, the fishing was worse and gave me my first blank. But that's gone.... Next trip was this report, so balance has been more than restored. ![]() Next trip(s) already being planned! __________________ -- Bart Rank : Rod Rattling Rookie! Bait Bung'ing Beginner!
