pagham 12/10/11

got to pagham around 7pm . lee was already there with lisa . got to are chosen spot and set up . i did not start fishing till around 8.30pm as was catching up with lee . who by now had started fishing and managed to get his pop up tent and bed for lisa to hide in ! the sea was a lovly colour , if not abit to flat . luckly there was good cloud cover . was going to fish a 2 hook loop rig and a drop pulley pennel . with lug , crab and dirty squid baits . lee had a couple of small bites from the off , but no fish . i had non . then around 9.30pm john , danny and steve finally turned up after a detour to selsey ! by mistake . just after they arrived i had a couple of small taps . 5min later a small doggie . blank saved . then the moon man popeed out to say high . fishing went dead for around a hour till the cloud came back . steve then bagged a small thornie . sport was very slow to say the least . then around 11pm noticed a few small tugs on my loop rig , then went slack . lifted into it and straight away could feel a fish nodding , yes i thought , here we go . half way in it felt like the fish had gone , dam i thought . then i noticed the line was going to my right . fish still on result . then along the surf line noticed a good size silver flash . my heart was in my mouth . 1st thought cod ? no bloody bass of 4lb2ozs

happy days . then a few moments later the other rod pulled hard right over , twice . picked it up , nothing there just a mangled lug and squid bait . dam . then right on que , just as the fish started to show . out popped the moon . instant fish turn off . for the next 3 hours it stayed there as bright as bright can be . no one had a bite . then around 2am the cloud cover came back and straight away lee had a small doggie . followed by john with a whiting . that was it , i think the cloud cover came back to late . danny managed to stay awake , but blanked . john went home happy as he caught a fish . lee went home to put his rods away for a couple of months now and steve coulod not get away soon enough . all in all very poor night . you can always count on the moon playing apart . till next time .

That was a cracker mate as always you pulled one out of the hat ! great night in great company mate enjoyed getting out and catching up with you again a dog saved a blank for me , really hope my motivation for the sport comes back soon btw cheers for the lug it was top notch mate

was a great night but the massive moon and flat calm weather put paid to a night full of fish.. another species in the bag for me , so can't be all bad ..
lovely bass tho Al ..!
