results off the latest foray

Went south to Clarence promenade 28th, called into the bait shop in Hillsea, to collect my order, the ragworm, although expensive, against local shops, were of top quality king rag, also got some frozen packs of squid, sandeel, joeys, peeler crabs, as alternatives.
Although the temperature was rising,we knew it was gonna be hard, the water had a slight chop with a sse breeze.

Set up two rods, one at distance, two hook rig one with sandeel, the other with joey.

Second rod 1/2 distance, with a pennel rig, using joey tipped with rag.

Nothing on the distance rod, except from crabs nicking the bait, all day.
Quite a lot of rattles on the closer rod, from small black bream, changed bait over to rag (snakes) , only fish hitting these were the bream, very frustrating , kept alternating the baits around to try and winkle something out.

As the tide hit high water, changed baits again to peeler and sandeel, hopeing that the bass or plaice may be confident to feed, nothing showed, stayed this way all the way on the ebb, so just sat back and enjoyed the day.

As the dusk came in, the tide also on the turn, more black bream, and a couple of schoolie bass, biggest around the 1lb mark, which was taken on squid/rag combo

There was a 4lb bass taken 100 yds down from me, which was returned, and a red mullet of 1/2 lb, by the angler next to me, not really a good day, but still enjoyable all the same.

Was nice of Ishthefish to turn up and make the day even better.

unlucky mate - that place drives me nuts at the best of times ! i normally get so bored i play a game of 'see how many 2 inch pollack you can catch from under the piles'
